Yeah, that worked. I have to copy it via my PC. I wonder why app manager doesn't like it?

Not sure, I don't use the app manager a lot, you could check out the Log (tap the title bar and click log).
You still need bounce right?

Yes, please

Now I'm trying it again, to see what the log message is, I see that I can save the file - I didn't even notice that before and just selected open with application manager. I guess I'll try that with bounce - I don't much like having to use my computer

EDIT: The log has quite a bit in it; the only unusual thing is 'short read in buffer_copy' from dpkg.

That was a for-price offering and should not be shared, nor requested. Doing so is against the forum rule.

Edit: Technically, putting any of those proprietary Ovi-store debs up for download is probably IP infringement, but since they were offered for free, it's not causing any trouble that i can see.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

I've had them for some time and no I'm not uploading them, since I actually paid for them (and even if I didn't I wouldn't upload them since it'd be piracy)
Same as for Joikuspot, I extracted the deb but won't upload it (don't bother PMing me about it)

If the Ovi debs are illegal to share I'll take them down.

Well, this is interesting. OK, perhaps not very interesting, but anyway...

If I download it using my N900's web browser, save as a file, and then use dpkg -i, I get the same error as indicated in the application manager.

However, if I download using my PC, then copy it onto the phone (via USB), then it works. This makes me blame the browser...though actually, the network route is different for my phone compared to my PC (the latter is over VPN).

Suspicious...

Anyway, thanks a lot for making those available! I owe you one

Now I can show off my N900(s) here in China too. I think I'll take them to the Beijing Linux Users Group

You're just trying to help out and i appreciate that (and unless/until Ovi whines i don't think it matters about it being posted; it would be cathartic to have an Ovi representative come here and post, wouldn't it? mwahahaha). I was mostly warning ceroberts.

nokia don't restrict developers from distributing software published in OVI store from being distributed other ways, so if anyone complains it will be the Rovio b/c they are missing these downloads from there stats, then again this is a nokia sponsored site they are losing counts to so they'd probably turn to nokia first if they was to be funny about it
