Capturing email addresses from email msgs works fine. But trying to enter / create new addressbook entries manually doesn't work: can fill interoperatethe name fields ok, same with the email address field... but when done the email address field comes up empty.

Did you click the Add button after you've typed in the email address in the Email Addresses tab of this contact?
