I have included all the files that I saw on this thread on my page... This way it's centralized and also this way whoever wants to do this (that's not from talk.maemo.org) will be warned of it's dangers.. And the tutorials are on there.. Just click on HOWTO.txt or Flash_on_device.txt

So this should cut down on all the "how to" posts if they go to this page: http://www.farahfa.com/n900-custom-kernels/

Link is also on my signature, just in case anyone needs it..

I am on the 800mhz kernel at the moment and it is very good
However i am getting an urge to flash to the 900mhz kernel, but can someone tell me if it is worth it? Is there that much of a noticeable boost between 800mhz and 900mhz?

Just overclocked to 800 MHz and it is ok. It is noticeably faster. Conky shows me that idle goes down to 125 MHz so maybe using it at the higher clock speed will not drain the battery too much.

I don't know if this matters, but cpuinfo reports the same specs for the chip in the n900 as the 3530 in the beagleboard, which is used in the Touchbook as well:

http://www.metoolabs.com/index.php?v...1844=fdtnphqgi

The relevent part:

root@beagleboard:~# more /proc/cpuinfo
Processor****** : ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l)
BogoMIPS******* : 496.77
Features******* : swp half thumb fastmult vfp edsp
CPU implementer : 0x41
CPU architecture: 7
CPU variant**** : 0x1
CPU part******* : 0xc08
CPU revision*** : 3

So there might be some headroom in the chip afterall, assuming the cooling is as good as the Touchbook.
