Stupid people. I'm not an Apple fan, never owned an Apple product, I don't dislike Apple, I'm just indifferent to whatever Apple makes. However, I bet Steve Jobs is laughing that some guy is smashing his iPad. If I were a company I wouldn't mind if thousands of people would buy and then break the products. Nowadays, it's all about the money.
I just cannot understand how a person can hate a company, but if you do want to hate Apple, then hate it for this: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/ma...s-of-the-ipad/

I find it offensive given all the waste in the world and people living in dire conditions, why not donate the money to charity instead of wasting what in reality is a good device. (not for me, but that doesn't mean it's not a good device)

Also, a few other companies too....
Foxconn is incredibly secretive, and it is not clear if it is making the iPad at the Longhua plant, but we do know the factory does make iPods. Foxconn’s other clients include Sony, HP, Amazon, Nokia, Motorola, Nintendo, Microsoft, Dell and Cisco.
Disappointed to see Nokia though.

FTA:
The Longhua plant is the single largest assembly base in the world for computers, mobile phones and consumer electronics. Around 300,000 workers reportedly live and work there.
I don't know what the normal demographics for this kind of things are, but the place is a size of a small city. The spike might be well within normal variation.

NOT that I would claim that Chinese electronics factories have no room for improvement in working conditions... I know nothing of that subject really.

assuming a million+ hits.. how would you sell that commercially to advertisers..??!

$400 would have been far better spent supplying a water pump and school books for an under developed area.. or buying a N900

Note that I said really smart*. Did you, for example, consider the possibility that this might actually be the ad? I hear a lot of large companies are going viral nowadays...

As for amount of hits, you don't need to assume. See the related videos for the clip. (there's one with 1 352 154 views currently)

*) No offence meant by this, I just think that creating content for ad revenue in the Internet is not such a new trick anymore.

Just for the record - the video is made by the company which makes the blenders. Now, imagine how many clicks would there be if they put oranges or apples in the blender ? A few hundred, and maybe a three star rating ? An iPad costs 500$. Getting millions of people to watch your product/commerical for 500$ is considered a VERY good marketing deal.

EDIT: Whoops. Thought the thread was about the 'will it blend' video. My mistake.

Capitalism allows the consumer to do whatever they want with their purchased product in this context.

You don't have to like it, agree with it, or watch it, of course. But saying the money could have been better spent is not your call. It was their money and they did what they wanted with it.

These people could have just as easily purchased the product and flipped it on eBay for close to a grand?? Would that have been acceptable to those commenting about the waste of money? A secondary purchase where the profit for the original buyer is almost 50%, not to mention the profit margin that Apple made?

THAT would be wasted money, hence why not even buying them is the best method of saving money...

My own little something for Apple haters to enjoy... http://dlbates.com/iherd

If that's all you can derive from them, then so be it A person's ability to grow is determined by their ability to identify, analyze, duplicate and expand new patterns.

For an interesting peek into one of these factory-towns, check out Discovery's documentary titled Factory City. I think it's really fascinating. And from my experience of traveling around China, the living condition in these electronic\tech factories are WAY WAY WAY above their previous living conditions in the village.
