Hi my n900 is bricked when I switch it on the nokia bootscreen shows and then it turns off.

I am using Ubuntu live and have downloaded both the latest firmware version and the flasher.
In the terminal I enter ./flasher-3.5 <RX-51.bin> -f -R (i renamed the image)
I get a message saying: Error claiming USB interface: Operation not permitted
Does anyone now what to do?

did you place the file in the same directory of the flasher? You have to turn the phone off and then press "U" while turning on. hold "U" until it turned on. Beside please read WIKI page before posting.

Yes I did all that and I read the wiki as well. It did turn on with U pressed. The screen booted with the Nokia logo and the usb icon at the corner. I don't know what's wrong.

Heh I have windows 7 x64 installed so...never worked even with VMware usb was not recognised. Maybe I should try with windows XP installed natively.
To UNderworld it didn't turn on just a barely visible nokia logo with usb icon at corner. That's supposed to happen when u is pressed an connected I'm sure.
Thanks anyway

You have to be superuser, try to flash with sudo-command!

If operation not permitted, you don't have the necessary rights i guess...
When i flashed, i used a similar command but with -F before the image-path (for Fiasco-image). May be this makes a difference...
