After years of my wife holding my laptop in her lap to follow a gps route(which I already knew the way), she had had enough. I have a hard time buying new equipment if I can find a way to make use of what I have. List of equipment to get Maemo Mapper to work on my Nokia N800.

List of Equipment
1. Toshiba Celeron 600 running XP (XP becasue the DeLORME GPS doesn't respect Linux)
2. Motorola usb bluetooth adapter
3. DeLORME Earthmate GPS
4. Nokia N800 running firmware OS 2007 edition v. 4.2007.26-8

Software needed

1. DeLorme Serial Emulation Driver for Earthmate GPS Receivers

2. Franson GPSgate for piping com port of GPS to usb server

I found that this worked quite well. I found that I had to start the Delorme serial emulator then Franson GPS gate in that order to work. It could just be my configuration. The Nokia n800 found the bluetooth connection and treated it just as it would a bluetooth gps transmiter.

I was able to place the laptop in the trunk of my car and have the gps antenna in the back window. The nokia sat perfectly in the instrument panel of my car without blocking any gauges I needed (ie. fuel gauge).

My wife was happy( at least for a moment ).
