Hehe I've finally got my N900 back and repaired!!

After waiting for 3 months and sending it 3 times to Nokia Care Center.

It's hasn't been replaced but repaired. Anyway, i got it, and it works, it's been quite long but thanks Nokia

can't be the charger cuz same behavior when using usb cable to charge.it. really crap and am really frustrated.

now, i can't turn it on, no battery, can't charge it. can't reflash it to try. this really sucks for me.

I have a fixed and replaced device with micro usb firmly attached that simple doen't charge.
What kind of QA they did!! OMFG!!!

That's^ interesting. I wonder if they replaced the board and if that "board" has now been redesigned.

Yes and no. There's no way to repair the board once the USB port rips off, so it's definitely a replacement. But I can pretty much guarantee that they haven't redesigned it beyond enlarging the underside epoxy patches.

I'd love to be proven wrong though.

The reason for my remark is that previously they were determined to be "Beyond Economic Repair". That could have very well meant that in these "just in time" economic times the boards that were being produced may have been slated for unit production and it was not economical to rob Peter to pay Paul.

Either unit production recently fell and they just continued producing the boards at the higher rate in order to stock pile parts or parallel production of these boards in another facility has begun. If the latter is the case then a redesign would make economic sense.

Technically the boards can be repaired, but it's not worth it to Nokia (repair is labor-intensive) and the result would likely look second-rate.

The technician did tell me that the motherboard was replaced.

I put an Invisible Shield on the screen and on every corner of the phone, the protection are still there, so It is the same phone

It has been four months and this hasn't been a problem so far. It seems to toggle between charge/discharge quickly with slight movement though. I hope that is just normal behaviour and not a symptom.

I really wish that this doesn't become an issue because apparently the warranty is not extended to Canadian residents

The poll gives me a positive vibe but those that suffered, can you please tell me how many charges until the port stopped working and what were the symptoms?

My USB port died on me about 4 weeks ago. I sent it to this repair center, and it was covered by warranty. 2 weeks later it was sent back without my stylus and my USB port was still not working. The tech guys had 'electronically repaired the software'. I had to send it back, and I'm still waiting to get my N900 back. I have to use this crappy cell phone in the mean time, and I hate it..
