I'm ready to buy an N900 but want to see if anybody has heard about a N910 or something coming out for this summer. Last time I bought a N770 and within 2 weeks the N800 came out.

Thanks

No word on an official N910.

There will always be another model in the works, and it will always come faster than computers do these days (they are the new 'cutting edge' hardware of the 2000's).

That said, if you keep waiting for the "next model" you will always be waiting.

Nokia are a business and have chosen a path of using the OSS community phenomenon to reduce their overheads specifically after sales support and development. Unlike Apple who do the opposite and make a killing from their Applications store.

Yeah, that's true. Just doing some due diligence before I pull the trigger. I have to have my "fact" ammunition to go against my friends who bought the ipad. ;-)

Well before the announcement of MeeGo Nokia was talking about a Maemo 6 device to be released towards the end of 2010. Who knows, maybe they'll try to stick to this. Adding a "new" OS might (or might not) make a device come earlier.

To make an iPad owner mad, just press the two little squares in the top left of your home screen with a couple of browser windows open.

Then copy/paste something.

Then tell them you paid half.

Then make a call with it.

Apple realy is amazing. How do they do it ?? Now they have managed to get us comparing the N900 to the iPad. It used to be "is the N900 the iPhone killer" Come om everybody. The n900 and the Apple products appeal to completely different clientel. Apple customers want something you take out of the box and use. The n900 is for people who want to "shape" their device to their own tastes and needs. One thing we all will have to admit, Apple's marketing is "The Best". Nokia could at least learn a bit from that devision.
Now to the first question. At first reading I was really hot to buy the N97 until I had it in my hands and realised immediately what a terrible device it was. Then I read about the N900, a better N97, in fact really different, so I waited and waited and waited. Finally I could order one and did so without having it this time in my hands. After 4 months I haven't regretted it !! More waiting???... No way. Buy it, it is great fun !!

Okay, then buy an N900, so the N910 will be released sooner!

Exactly, Venemo. I'm going to buy it this evening you should hear about a new Nokia device with a new blazing fast quantum based chip for $200 in two days.

There is no reason someone wouldn't buy an N900 and an iPad. They are quite different.
