IS* not may, it's a huge risk when you overclock the device, won't go into much detail since I'll actually get flamed for saying it's risky.
Anyways, underclocking would cause instability issues with the device, which may actually decrease battery life instead of helping to improve it.

It is not possible to overclock n900 without changing kernel.
This program can only set frequencies from available in system. If you are using default kernel you can only chose from 600 550 500 and 250. If you are using overclocked kernel then more frequencies will be available.
Temperature is already shown on the Status tab.
Free-form text for "Up Threshold" and "Sampling Rate" is not dangerous as system will ignore wrong values and before chosen value goes to system the limits are checked first and if it is out of limit then it is also ignored.
Most of the main functions are finished so the first version will be released soon.

Can you include a voltage selection too?

thanks i was waiting for something like this i do agree though about clock rates should not be free form should be preset clock rates to lower human error

I have not tested kernel with voltage selection yet. But when I have time I will test it and add maybe voltage selection to program.

CPU frequencies are not free-form text. You can only select available frequencies.
up_threshold and sampling_rate have large limits (any number from 15 to 100 for up_threshold and from 150000 to 150000000 for sampling_rate) so free-form text is the best choice.
