Hmm, the setting looks fine though. Similar with what I have. Try this:
1. Can u see if you use thunderbird (using your PC), you are able to connect to your account using Imap?

2. Make sure the login name does not contain the @gmail.com

Surprise... I can use POP ms outlook 07 to connect gmail account, but IMAP doesn't work either in outlook

Check your setting at gmail then

I fixed the configuration with outlook, so now outlook works, but the phone still doesn't...

try using thunderbird from mozilla. I seldom use outlook now. When you are done testing, you could always uninstall thundirbird.

wow, now it works. The problem is for the outgoing server, the encrypted connection should be TLS, but N900 set it to be SSL by default. After I changed to TLS, it works now. Great!

The Gmail Outgoing security protocol is TLS not SSL. So try that!

HAHA did read full thread im a bit late

Make sure your Imap is enabled in your Gmail settings.
