Hi all,
I have a N900 device which is borrowed from Nokia Forum for app testing. I am not sure if this is pre-production device or not. But it can't find sim card when I just get it. I follow the instruction to flash the firmware (2010 version) and emmc on the device. It is ok. Then I start to install mad-developer and maemo-pc-connectivity on N900. The first one is installed successfully but the latter get some problem as "missing package upstart-job". I can't find any thread for this kind of problem. Can anyone help? Thanks.

so you mean i should flash to the older version, and then update the latest version through app manager? Thanks.

yes, I downloaded the oldest firmware I could find, flashed the device with it(also the eMMC) and than used app manager to update to the most recent firmware.
One small thing... Until I updated the phone to the latest fw it did not see the sim card. Works now though.
Cheers

i tried as your suggestion, but it still fails because of damn missing upstart-job packages.

I found a fix for this, as I couldnt install the extra protocols plugins needed for facebook etc.
First disable the extra-devels repo, and load application list again. Find the extra protocol plugin, and It will now let you install it. Once installed, re-enable devels repo, and voila!!! Updates can now be applied to all your troublesome apps
