The official instructions I followed didn't work for me.

Here's what did work:

1. Go to your application manager and make sure that you have
http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ in your list of repositories.

2. Select the browse and install applications option from your app manager (sorry, I'm doing this from memory so this may not be the exact name of it).

3. scroll down the list of applications you can install (it should be in alphabetical order). Look for micro-browser

4. Double click (tap) on this item and follow the directions to install. Give it a good 15-30 minutes to install. If I recollect, I think at some point, I thought it was hung, but it was just slow to install.

By the way, this new browser is pretty cool. You can use docs.google.com, for example.

A couple gripes:
1. Sometimes the screen appears hung, and then it renders the screen very quickly. Should show some kind of busy indicator so the user knows that it's doing something.
2. Sporadic crashes.
3. Maybe rework the multithread handling priorities so that it feels smoother to the user. It feels a bit jerky in terms of responsiveness at times.

Opera is definitely much more solid, but this new browser is probably more compatible with more sites, such as docs.google.com.

Look forward to the next iteration of this product. .

If you find any reproducible bugs, please ensure they are raised in Bugzilla, as requested.

Consider it part of the "contract" for getting pre-release software to play with.

Cant wait for any bugs to be found and speed to increase a bit..

The good. You can mark an email in yahoo mail as unread after you read it. This pull down button option will not work under opera. Interesting since the other buttons under opera work, just not the one to mark as unread.

This is not a problem with this new browser.

I have an telephone online ansering management system. When I tap on the screen to select an option, it appears to think I tapped in a location higher then I have really tapped. So this broswer does not work here. The graphics do not render properly. But the opera browser will browse my messages and play them as well via the media player which pops up automatically when I click to listen to the message. Very nice, although a line of buttons for options only appear when I bump the size of the screen resolution up.

The opera browser seems to be more readable. The mozilla based browser at times appears faster loading web pages.

If opera could fix a few problems it would still be my choice. The mozilla browser has potential.

The optimized view also works better in Opera than in Microb. Not so strange maybe, as the optimized view was one of Opera's big selling points in the mobile world and they have probably put a lot of work into it.

I like the fact that now we can switch between the two in the menu option..

Been using it, got a few crashes of the browser, no real ryme or reason.. I know in a few months these issue will be addresses and will be my browser of choice.

How to switch between microb and opera? I found opera is more usable for me, but my installation doesn't show switch in the menu? Is there any explanation? Thanks

update : i have enabled the menu in /home/user/.browser

The interesting questiin here is whether we can use both at the same time? I'm more fond of opera , since it provides faster surfing. But for some pages it has problems, we can turn to microB. Thanks.
