Actually I take that comment back, mostly.
Assuming you hold the phone in your left hand as you're talking (which I do), it's quite easy to hold the n900 between your thumb & little finger: thumb goes along the inside of the case's spine and your pinky rests by the power button.
In this position the flap of the case just sits along your neck. Trying this right-handed will get the flap in your face
