Problem Error:
Unable to install evince
Packages missing:
libglade2-0>=1:2.3.6

How does a newby get that package on his 770?
I have the lastest update on the device. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried searching the forums using the Search link above? There have been several posts about this issue before, if I'm not wrong.

Dino's post in that thread stated the following, which you tried?

Try adding the following to your application manager sources:

Repository: [WWW] http://maemo.o-hand.com/packages
Distribution: mistral/
Component: (leave blank)

It contains libglade2-0_2.4.0-1osso1_armel.deb which should work.
NOTE:
Be sure to put the slash at the end of "mistral/"

Ensure that you have these two packages installed and it should solve your problem .

I found libglade2-0_2.4.0-1osso1_armel.deb in my internet search and it isn't compatable with my device.

Searched the forum and it looks like I'm not the only person that's have this issue. I believe its a issue with Version 3.2006.49-2.

That's the version I have installed and it works fine .

From what little experience I have it appears that some packages can cause conflicts with other packages when it comes to installing applications.

I had a lot of problems trying to install maemo-mapper and gnuite's install file wouldn't even download . Eventually I flashed the 770 and started again and installed just the apps I really wanted starting with maemo-mapper and it installed no problem.

It's a bit of a bummer to have to do that but it might be the way to go.
