Does anyone know if there are supposed to be issues when running abiword? OpenOffice and gnumeric work fine, but when I run abiword I get a blank screen. strace reveals that abiword is stuck on some lock (futex), and just stays there...

I think you have to enable squeeze repositories, get Abiword from those, and then roll back to lenny. I got the same blank screen as you, so you're not crazy.

From Easy Debian Wiki page

Q: How do I get the virtual keyboard to pop up in Debian Apps?
A: DIABLO/N8x0: Select the "Set Debian HW Keys" menu item; wait a bit, then you can press the minus (-) hardware key followed by the menu hardware key to toggle the Matchbox Keyboard. Press the (-) key then the (+) key to toggle between normal and mini (one-line) keyboards.
A: FREMANTLE/N900: There is no virtual keyboard in Maemo for Debian apps.
Is it possible to install this virtual keyboard on n900.

In Diablo, i used this keyboard a lot.

Sometimes I need to run kde programs directly from x terminal using debbie <packagename> such as kchmviewer. I have a problem to enter a search string because n900 keyboard does not work for kchmviewer in maemo.

Note: I am aware that kchmviewer is available for maemo5 but some of its features are missing plus it cannot open some chm ebooks.

asyik: Try the same keyboard hack we use for LXDE for kchmviewer: press the power key and then press the screen outside the power menu, see if the keyboard works then.

new_bee: you will probably have to edit the file:
.config/lxpanel/LXDE/panels/panel or .config/lxpanel/LXDE/panels/top

I think i had this same issue before. What i did was I deleted .chroot config file (home/user/.chroot) and run the installer again.
