I'm expecting my 770 to arrive shortly (purchased off ebay) and one of the apps I'm really looking forward to trying is maemo mapper. I've been trying off and on to reach the site listed here http://maemo.org/downloads/product/maemo-mapper

but have never been able to get through. I've noticed the author posts here often, and I'm just wondering if I'm missing something, or if there is a problem with the site.

Thanks.

it loads fine for me.

instead of downloading the app, use this link (from you 770) to install the app and the needed repositories...

I'm trying in my web browser (from a couple different machines) and it always fails. Is there something about that site/page that will only respond to a 770/800?

I don't have my 770 yet so I can't test it with that.

Just so that you or anyone else has similar problems. I re-imaged my 770 with the latest hacker edition, then tried to install maemo-mapper using the deb package. It did not work correctly, complaining about the same libsqllite as you mentioned. So to solve the problem I simply added the following repositories:

1) Maemo hackers
2) Maemo repository
3) Maemo extras

They are all listed here. http://maemo.org/community/wiki/appl...nrepositories/

Then it was just a matter of using the application manager to install maemo mapper. After that everything was hunky dory.

My internet provider blocks port 80 (inbound), so www.gnuite.com redirects to gnuite.com:8080. If you are behind a firewall that blocks traffic on port 8080, you will not be able to access the site. You can set up a proxy to get around that, or you can download the .install file from maemo.org (port 80) directly, depending on whether you use a 770 or N800:

770: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/d...mapper.install

N800: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/d...mapper.install

(I don't like to link to these .install files because they are device-dependent. The .install file on my web server is device-independent, so it works with both 770s and N800s.)

By the way, the GPX Driving Directions web service (hosted on my web server, and which is the basis for Maemo Mapper's "Download Route" dialog) will give you the same problems. You might need a proxy in order to use the "Download Route" dialog.
