Specs from website:

Optimized for WCDMA 900/1700/2100
Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900
Optimized for 3G networks on WCDMA 900/1700/2100 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900

According to this, only 2.5G?

I have my n900 running on TMobile USA and I can confirm 3g does work. I only pay for the 10$ "Dumb phone" plan.

Edit: I'm dumb i read that wrong. It only works as EDGE on ATT. Which is either 2 or 2.5g(i cant remember which). So to confirm for sure on ATT with n900 you will NOT get 3g.

I can say though i really recommend TMobile. Their prices blow everyone else away and i have not had a single problem with my service.

I am in South East Pennsylvania, can you tell me exactly what is the name of the phone plan you have and how much you pay. Thanks.

The first few months i had my n900 i had att and the edge speeds seemed fine to me... pages took maybe an extra 2 seconds to load. I switched to tmobile and its 20 bucks more a month now and the speeds are great but im always in a place with Wifi so i never use 3g anyway... Ill be switching back to att soon

No, it only works on 2.5G on AT&T. I have it, and while it's not as fast as 3G, it's not that slow either. Plus it sucks a lot less battery in 2.5G mode than in 3G.

For anyone who has used BOTH at&t (Edge) and tmobile (3G) can you comment on the difference in battery usage for similar usage?

Does 3G usage more than 20% battery on the same usage (20% is my experience when switching from Edge to 3G on the E71)
