Crap! I just realized that using fMMS on my N900 without having internet plan will cause extra charges for every MB transmitted.
Is this correct?
I didn't think of this earlier since I have the texting/multimedia, in addition to my voice plan, that allows normal MMS.

EDIT: My concern is whether or not fMMS uses internet to send the pictures, or does it send them through the MMS service of my cell provider? If it's the first, then I'll be getting charges for every kb sent. But if it's the second, then I'm not worried.

Check with your cell provider if MMS messages are charged at SMS rates, or if you need a special plan.

Different providers charge differently for them. Even though it goes over the same signalling pipes (making them free for providers!)

Unless you have some free MMS plan with your operator it will cost.

From previous threads here I know that costs for MMS is very different depending on your provider. Some include a certain number of MMS for free in the base package, some charge for MMS (but it's cheap compared to internet access), some charge a lot so you're better off with email... you really have to ask your carrier.

Sorry that I didn't make it very clear.

What I meant was that I have the SMS/MMS plan that I pay extra for already.
It allows me 200 SMS/MMS per month.

My concern is whether or not fMMS uses internet to send the pictures, or does it send them through MMS service of my cell provider? If it's the first, then I'll be getting charges for every kb sent. But if it's the second, then I'm not worried.

Thank you.

You should be ok, it uses data, but your operators mms apn.

To verify send a couple mms to yourself and then call your operator and ask them how many mms have you used in the billing cycle so far.
