The main problem for Meego is the resistive screen, IMO, of the N900. I do not know how difficult it is to change the algorithms for Capacitative to Resistive screens. Another issue will be that that Meego probably will expect at least 800 Mhz with GPU or Snapdragon as a starting point. Although the N900 can do this, Nokia will not officially support Overclocking.

@Nokia and The hardware adaptation team

You guys carry on the work of bringing Meego-Harmattan to N900. This community will never be satisfied.

Maemo 6 was never promised. Fremantle was delivered (Maemo 5) and Harmattan/MeeGo was never promised.

Why do you want an immature OS which would probably need months to become usable state? Android became a proper OS after 2 years of its initial announcment. I like Maemo 5, and with PR 1.2 and better Ovi Suite experience it's probably better OS that MeeGo will be in many months. What needs a petition is Flash 10.1 and a promise for new apps in Ovi Store.

I'm probably talking crap, but,
Meego will run in some way as it is being developed on the N900, yes?
The main problem is the resistive screen?
If, say, a third party company were to make a drop in replacement capacitive screen, I'm assuming that the hardware could take it as it's the same as the iCrap.
I know nothing about development, but how hard would it be to modify the screen driver? What about the milestone driver?

ill get a meego device when they come out as long as there better than this one, or ill go android or iphone if they 'ever' release a device thats better than this one!
im sure maemo5 will be even more awesome in a couple of years, just give it time, personally i love maemo5 and meego looked a bit crap in those photos that were floating around recently, but everyone should move forward if something better comes along, we should be privelidged that nokia let us buy this device in the first place,
in the mean time someone should create a thread to buy maemo from nokia!
then we can run our own OS and compete against nokia, ill throw 20 quid in for the cause

If Nokia gives FULL portrait mode and voice navigation I dont need stupid GoGo until it matures to at least 1.6 or 2.0
