Can we update Sygic (the official update file) with the new PR1.2 or is it out of the question?

It updated on the PR1.2 leak, I don't foresee any issues. Be sure your distribution in the app catalog is "fremantle"

How to backup Sygic and reinstall after a N900 reflash?

Can anyone point me to a post showing how to do this if there is one?

Hi cardiff-blues,

These are the files you should backup:

Settings:
Drive > Maemo > settings.dat

Favorites:
maps > Country name or State name > favourites.upi

Radars (if you have any):
maps > Country name or State name > radars.upi

License number, so you don't need to bother with it in next install:
maps > license.txt

Search history (only if you think that's necessary):
Res > nameshistory.syg

If you have any itinerary saved, it will be saved in this directory:
Res > itinerary

Yes, install with the same deb file and then copy replacing the files with the ones you've just made the backup.

i just copied these folders to the memory card:

cities
drive
maps
res

and then after doing a vanilla flash, copied the folders back to the main folder and then used the deb file to reinstall.

all my customizations are also still there.

Forgive me for being a little thick. I have heard of these flavours of flash but I don't really know what it is. What is a vanilla flash?

I forgive your "think" I think

You can flash the emmc to the latest version. The Emmc version is called vanilla because because it goes with all the various firmwares.

Yes, sorry for the typo. You actually might be the closest N900 to me. I am only a few miles from Chertsey. I'm near Bagshot.

Yes another term I have heard banded about but never understood is emmc.
