I encountered the same problem after I updated the humanitarian theme. Not only that, but the update literally ate like 7M of rootfs space. I uninstalled the theme, but the problem persisted. I fixed it after applying new theme and restarting the phone after that.

Problem still exists in the newest firmware (1.3?) 20.2010.36-2.002
The power down and pull battery solution corrected it, just as above.
