Probably, but you'd find VGBA would do it much smoother. Smoku you are far and away my favourite person on this forums. Good luck on the port and I await a decent version with patience (I'm only half way through FF7 so take your time :P)

EDIT: Also, being a pretty heavy DS user back in the day, I'd say the suggestion earlier would be spot on. 2x zoom for the top screen only as the bottom screen is far less important for most games. (512 and 256)x576 if my math is correct should fit half decent)

OMG.. this version is working (was missing the GL Library which you can get from Apt-get install anyway)!!

Very slowly though.. hope we can find some way of speeding it up!! (and get the microphone working too)..

Is the build that was linked to (in above post as well) the same build that you're toying with?

Here's a solution with kindoddball's proposal without odd scaling.

N900= 800x480
DSi= 2x (256 x 192)

So have 1 screen doubled (512x384) and keep the other one original (256x192).

Pushing them out to the corners allows a blank space to distinguish the individual displays and allows you to be able to concentrate on a single screen much more conviniently. There's more space to put the Applications commands (File, Tools etc). There's even more space to place information like fps, shortcut keys (as demonstrated), other keys (save state, load state, toggle keys, sound on/off) or a combination depending on the builder.

Here are some quick scetches for understanding:

First Image Red biased

Second Image Blue biased

1) Based on the exact pixels as stated above.
2) Red= main screen vs Blue= touch screen
3) Star button toggles between which screen should become larger (ie doubled). Useful for some games eg New Super Mario DS (red biased) vs Drawn to Life (blue biased).

Edit: Images published on imageshack won't automatically display on forum, now I've just made them as links. So you'll just need to open both of them in individual tabs, sorry.

Kangal: liked your idea. i thought about it too the other day.

However, i think that working on optimizing the emulator is the most important task because i had already tried the former port and running the emu in easy debian but both were slow (2-8 fps) due to lack of optimization.

smoku: are you willing to optimize the emu?(i wish you would! ) maybe utilizing the fact that the ds has an arm cpu and that part won't be emulated (although the graphics etc will have to be emulated). maybe zod will be able to help us?

The way I see it - DS emulators can't even run properly on desktop PCs. Why would desmume run great on the N900? Same ARM architecture as the DS?

Yes both run on ARM, so it will be much easier for the N900 to emulate it
