I had that problem. For me it was caused by

"Extra protocol plugins for Conversations and Contacts" and "IRC Protocol Plugin for Conversations and Contacts" another app that did something with Conversations. Check around for bad software. I realized this was the issue because usually it just said Photos close, Web App closed etc. But once when I entered the Conversations app gave me a Nokia White Screen so I decided to remove the apps related to Conversations.

Did you update to PR 1.2 ? i learned that updating actually overwrites the Titan (power) kernel. So try that first, then you can uninstall the power kernel.

If updating from your phone does not work due to the stability issues you are facing, then try Nokia software updater.

Before trying all that, remember to make a backup.

Do you have the "Enhanced Linux Kernel for power users" installed? (check in your app manager)

What version are you running? (go to settings , about product)

ok, so you are running an old version. the latest version now is 10.2010.19-1.003.

Connect to the internet, go to app manager, tap on update, and when the list comes up you should an entry called Maemo 5. this is the firware update. Tap on it and it will walk you through the process (nothing much you need to do except format and wait for it to download and install). your phone might become unresponsive during the process, this is normal, and remember to have the charger connected at all times while upgrading.

If the upgrade is successful, your version should show 10.2010.19-1.003.

hey i tried that but the thing is i got the meamo 5 in the update list. when i try to update it, it say 0 kb is required to update and nothing happens at all... what should i do... i tried updating this thing yesterday and it did happen and its installed in the app manager but it says that its updatable and broken... and the version no is the same which u have mentioned,... what should i do thanks..

the simplest thing to try at this stage is to use the Nokia software updater.
you can download it from the nokia website, and update your n900 just like any other Nokia phone. I did not try this myself, but i read it in several posts.

so i should connect it to lan and download the nokia software updates and will it work ?? what did u do when u had this problem??/
