One can argue that the Everun is more expensive, but it is better in other aspects AND runs a ton more software. Is it only because it is more expensive that we claim it is not in the same target market? AND/OR should the OS (Windows, btw, it can run Linux as well) be something that would sway the market?
I suppose the Everun is better, or at least I would trade my 770 for one if given the option. Price does play into the 'market' factor though. Lets take cd players for instance. Would you say that a Sony CDPCE375 5 Disc CD Player and a Bang & Olufsen Beosound 9000 cd player are in the same market?
The Sony holds 5 cds, and the B&O holds 6, but the Sony costs around $115, and the B&O costs closer to $5000. Yes the B&O is probably better, and I'd rather have the B&O than the Sony, but do you see my point? More along the lines of the UMPC though, I think the OS DEFINITELY sways the market. If you went out on the street and asked a bunch of random people if they have ever used linux, I garuntee most of them would either say no, or ask you what linux is. If you asked them about windows XP you'd probably get a much more positive response, or at least more people would know what you were talking about. Also from an application perspective, the XP UMPC can run a ton more applications right out of the box. A huge number of those applications are proprietary though. ITT's run an open source OS and open source applications. I don't know of any application for an ITT that costs money. Also I might as well interject that the ITT OS is NOT a desktop operating system, like the operating systems UMPC's are designed to run. UMPC's are just that, Ultra Mobile 'PCs', presenting you with the environment you'd expect to find on any other PC. An internet tablet is and internet tablet, it is a tablet that you can use to access and browse the internet, it promises something entierly different, and more limited in scope.

I guess the EEE is a no-go then.

Wait a minute... Those are prices for 8, 16 and 32 GB versions. They don't even appear on Asus' current spec sheets anymore. Where did they get those models?

Dunno. Let me ask. ;-)

I'll quibble with that, too. Nokia has paid keen attention to the One Laptop Per Child initiative since its inception, and $100 US was the original target price. Granted there are technical constraints, but if we're just talking price...

Beste,

Alles is op bestelling.

"Everything on pre-order."

"Stock is not mine but from my suppliers."

Me: "None of these models are mentioned on the Asus website?"

"Updates on the Asus website are very slow"

"I cannot give any more info regarding these systems"

"Also at the moment i don't deliver abroad"

"All orders have to be collected, that's why i don't sell abroad"

"Thanks anyway for showing interest in my shop"...

Met vriendelijke groeten,
Eddy Morisse

So... pre-order and no shipping. And on top of that he lists a model (the ten-incher) that Asus hasn't even released (yet?).

I don't know about you, but I'd sooner place an order for that Medison USD 150 laptop than doing "business" with that guy.

There is no such thing as a free (or almost free) lunch.

BTW, what would be a cheap, small, Eee-alike laptop to buy as a replacement for the N800? Any ideas?

Kohjinsha SA1 (the first model, not the latest SH6).

Doesn't really meet the "cheap" part of my description...
