There are quite a few different protocols that can be used over wifi. The ones I can think of are server client based. FTP, SFTP, SCP, Samba, NFS, HTTP I have used all the previous over wifi, but I have these services available on my home Linux box and start them up as needed. It is best for you to search how on how to get these services running on you PC, since there are different ways to do each of these depending on the OS that is in your PC.

Another way to transfer files is get an SD-Card reader and copy them from the PC to the SD-Card and then put the SD-Card in the Nokia. Im sure there are other ways these are just the first ones that I thought of.

I use scp when I need to transfer the occasional file to my device. I use PuTTY pscp.exe on the Windows PC and open ssh/scp on the Linux box. scp can be used to "push" or "pull" files to/from the Nokia device.

Configure openssh on your Nokia device with public/private keys for the user account (instructions in this forum) and you can push/pull files very easily.
