As for being a sysadmin I really dislike GUI-apt-Tools - and again case proven. First it told me to use NSU. After checking dist-upgrade output I saw that it complained about not enogh free space. So I symlinked /var/cache/apt/archives, after that the dist-upgrade would have started. Tried the GUI again, still no luck. Moved stuff from the rootfs around, to finally get 60MB or so, still no luck. Now doing a dist-upgrade on the console. Not so user-friendly that GUI thingy

Create a download folder on the eMMC to be used for the downloaded packages instead of the default apt archive folder.

what is eMMC

thanks
What I understand is:

This is storage space in your phones internal memory i.e.
Check this 32GB eMMC for Nokia 900

I used this because I don't have enough free space in rootfs and this update allowed me to jump directly to latest version skipping 2 versions in between.

So what for do you need update? just to have it? it has bugfixes, but there is no way to install it in BUGGY way and than to flood over forum with same threads about all the problems you have. and especially to advice such things to others.

Yo, admin, have you tried to backup programs and disable all repos except main one? also deleting extra stuff can help. to be admin you have not only to know to manage the system, but also to know to keep it clean.

As I said, I gained 60MB. As I read through the forums, that should be enough. And yes, I uninstalled half of my extras-devel programs and disabled the repos. Still, if the dist-upgrade would have started I don't see why the GUI don't want to start - especially when it does not tell me why.

And don't flame me, do you have any linux experience?

For those trying it:

For me the apt / dpkg process died halfway through, probably because rootfs space ran out (wtf?). You can resume updating with

Code:
apt-get -f install
apt-get dist-upgrade

Flasher doesn't work on w7 and can't be bothered to install XP nao.

E: Meh, I remembered I had linux laptop so I just updated in there, derp.

First of all, fix your freaking caps lock key.

Second of all, you need to be root.

My recommendation for you is to use the Maemo Flasher.
