After flashing my n900 with the USA PR 1.2 firmware, my FM transmitter seems to have stopped working. I would enable it, and the music stops coming out of the built-in speakers, but there would be static coming out of the radio tuned to the frequency I set them to.

What should I check?

turn it on then see if the latest devel healthcheck can see it. will detect state, if it is startable, power and frequency.
(please only use the devel version if you are comfortable with using extras devel applications. usual devel warning applies)

Start playing music in your mediaplayer and then go to the terminal and type the following commands as root
Code:
/usr/bin/fmtx_client -p 1
/bin/echo 118 > /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-2/2-0063/power_level
/opt/lfocus/v4l2-ctl -d /dev/radio0 -f 88.1
Now tune your radio to 88.1MHz and see if it works

Oh, and you may need to install lfocus before you can type these commands

(sudo apt-get install lfocus from terminal or install it from application manager)

I installed lfocus, and I can manually locate /opt/lfocus/v412-ctl, but attempting to execute it results in a "not found" error.

Hi all,

All of a sudden my fm transmitter has stopped working. I used it a few weeks back and it was all working fine and smooth.

I have done a few software updates in the mean time but nothing should have caused the fm-transmitter to fail

I removed and re-installed the fmtx-faker but no success

I play a song in media player and I enable transmitter. The audio from n900 stops but I cannot tune to the transmitting station.I can only hear the "screeech" in that frquency..Tried multiple devices

Note: My usb charging port broke and my n900 was sent to service center 3 times to get it fixed..(it failed twice when fixed). I had strictly advised them not to update the device software-so no update was done to software

Question: Can anything get messed up while they re soldered the usb port or is this a pure software issue?

if nothing works I am planning to reflash but I just want to try options and suggestions before I can flash

Edit: I also tried the below three commands and I dont get any errors

/usr/bin/fmtx_client -p 1
/bin/echo 118 > /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-2/2-0063/power_level
/opt/lfocus/v4l2-ctl -d /dev/radio0 -f 88.1

Waiting for help

Thanks
Bipin

EDIT: Its working but a i literally have to stick the receiving device to my n900 for transmitting the signal !!!!!

the range of transmitter is less than 2 cms with FM boost.. Weird!!!

Did the Nokia service guys screw up when re soldering the USB port since i read somewhere that the signal goes weak when charging(I am not charging while transmitting)

Guys..Please help me figure out if its a hardware or software issue
