How about using the cam as a business card scanner jacking the results into the N800's handwriting recognition? Maybe the res is too low, but it would be very kewl if that could be cobbled together.

The resolution is way to low for a handwriting recognition scanner for business cards. It doesn't stop me from snapping pics of business cards though. I created a directory in "Images" called "Businesscards" that I dump all the photos of the cards into. Works well so far because usually in the thumbnail of the image I can recognize the business name or logo of the company.

I hope that happens before the dust prevents me from using the camera...

The camera app found in the maemo garage *almost* works. It will take pictures and videos but it randomly and frequently locks up the tablet just by panning the camera around while it is just idling ... very strange.

If the kinks get worked out with this app, it would make the webcam very useful. For now, that camera is underutilized ... like a lot of the capacity of the 770/N800.

It appears that it makes the N800 lag. If you used it for any amount of time, like I have, you see that the video slows becomes more and more out of sync. At that point, it starts to lag. There was simplecam on this forum that appeared to fix this problem, but it looks like the change he made to the app wasn't taken by Nokia or known.

While looking around in my N800 i found this in /home/user/apps/camera/settings

[Save_Settings]
save=/media/mmc2
mmcname=Internt minneskort
[Upload Settings]
uid=
Password=
uri=www.flickr.com/services/atom/

I regged a flickr account and filled in the uid and password but nothing... Should be something somewhere that enables this perhaps.
