Hi all,
New to posting but been reading around for a while now.
I am having a bit of a problem with Canola 2 on my N900 as the title says.
I am running PR1.2 firmware and downloaded Canola 2 via App Manager (over wifi) last night. It appeared to work fine at the time, played some music through the inbuilt speakers ... alls good.
I then downloaded some plugins, radio, etc. and left it until today. I started up Canola, all seemed OK until I try to play any music, I get no audio through headphones or speakers, any thoughts?
File appears to be playing to all intents and purposes, progress bar moves along etc, just no audio. I have also noted that I get no album cover art either but all the MP3's have album cover metatags and they display fine through the default media player.
Any help or idea would be appreciated. I am reasonably new to the N900 so still learning alot but I am quite happy to have a go at pretty much anything, its the only real way to learn

Canola 2 is in Extras-Devel.
http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-devel#H...e_Extras-devel
Expect stability issues (crash on changing themes, cannot type, etc.) Most of those however, will be fixed with the next update: http://andrei1089.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
(I am not the developer.)

i am also not a developer though, love trying out new things
anyways, i can see that extras-devel is available on fremantle and not fremantle-1.2. So, can i just use the fremantle and update??

I think they shut down the -testing and -devel split after PR1.2's release. Anyways, I just use plain old "Fremantle" as the distribution.

That does'nt answer my question - can i add -devel and install apps??
i really want to try out new apps...
How to activate Extras-devel
In the Application Manager:
- Navigate to the application menu (tap the title bar)
- Select ‘Application catalogs’
- Select ‘New’
- Enter a catalog name of ‘Maemo extras-devel’
- Enter a web address of http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel
- Enter a distribution of ‘fremantle’
- Enter components of ‘free non-free’
- Select ‘Save’
