No as you can see in this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=707769 it requires only software.

If you've been following, Development discussion has been moved elsewhere because of the excessive "signal:noise" ratio here at t.m.o.

So in a sense, this thread is abandoned, but not necessarily the project.

I think they do. But no point to with day-to-day progress. So sit tight and relax. they doing this in their free time. If you read the last posts from the devs, You see that they don't have working solution and it's a unstable solution.

No use rushing things up or trying to. Just like PR 1.2, it will come when it's done

This is just not going to work without hardware being altered so i would love to know why they need the charge driver.
Can someone come out the woodwork and explain to me just how they will get host working on software alone?.

I have now added another usb port and installed a regular charge socket for a non usb charger and it is working fine.

Usb otg also is working but no way without wiring changes as the usb otg transciever is already there but not wired for either host or otg......
So i want to know just how you guys are hopeing to get host mode on software alone (no way you will get otg by the way on software alone).

Read this thread, OTG is not the goal, proper Host mode with a reduced 200mA power is. This requires NO hardware changes, they have it working, it just needs to be polished and tested properly. As well as Kernel drivers being built for your USB peripherals.

If you check the previous thread you!l see that they've already done it via software. Just chill and stop being so eager.

Yes i know they are going for host but the poor guys are really facing something here as it has gone on for a long while now and it is a shame they will not look at any wiring changes but i tell you what they deserve a medal all of them for even contemplating this.

I sadly think this will not be succesful due to os changes being implemented by Nokia but i want them to succeed, i in the meantime will keep a close look on this and help if they get stuck.

GOOD LUCK to the team.

Obviously you're not actually even reading what we're telling you now. It works abill_uk, it works and I don't think anyone needs your help, Sir Engineer. If you want to take your N900 apart then so be it, but most of us don't, and it isn't required for Host mode. I'll say it again, you don't need to modify any part of the N900's hardware to enable host mode, it works, it's been working for weeks. It just needs to be made user friendly and have the required software drivers for your USB peripherals ... Do you understand?
