I was thinking about this lately... I was filming with my n900 and it stutters sometimes... i've tried to increase dsp, lock it at 600mhz, lock it at 1000, but nothing works! it keeps stuttering! This is unnacceptable behaviour! My sisters $30 phone can film perfectly without skipping a single frame! The image quality is great! but i'd rather have a little less quality but a smooth framerate!
Any suggestions? is there anything i can try?!

Close any background tasks, then it will be more like your sister's qvga $30 cell phone.

i had nothing running in background, it was just only the camera. No demanding widgets also...

in x-term run the command 'top'

this will give you a list of running programs, in this list look for 'browserd'.

If you see this and mibroB is not open run the command

killall browserd

Sometimes microB seems to get stuck and not actually close when you tell it to, it might be eating your cpu up, you never know until you try.

The fundamena isue is probably related to I/O congestion and general slowness of the emmc type storage. Recording to micrsd might be smoother, as no other app would be using it.

To solve this issue you should:

1. Use the microsd and not the internal storage.
2. This sometimes happen because of fragmentation. Defragmenting a flash drive is not good. I suggest you backup your files, format the drive and put them there again.

Sorry but this is the only solution I know of.

the fragmentation in flash memory is not problem for speed to data access.
