Which ones? Isn't it just iphone 4 that has higher resolution than N900? And that just came out. The iphone 3Gs which was out when N900 came out if I recall had lower res than N900.

You make some good points but Kind of spoil it with some blatant exaggerations.

I totally agree... And that's what counts: "Is it the best for YOU"...

If not, buy an iPhone/Android device (or whatever) and move along... Nothing to see here...

Ah ... Maybe because I don't tend to accept false statements?

Maybe YOU made the biggest blunder when you bought your N900. Quite obviously, this is not the best phone for your needs. OTOH, this is the best device out there for me. There is no other device out there that does what I need better than the N900.

Maybe I should make sometime a list of all the things I'm doing with my N900. It is amazing how many uses I have for this device (and no, I do not include hitting people who disagree with me with the N900 in the list).

I've made it known that I'm no fan of the software, but the N900's hardware is fantastic if you consider when it was released. The only devices on that list that it is fair to compare it to are the blackberrys and the droid which were released around the same time. For it's age it's definitely one of the best phones on the market, and still the most solid with the exception of the screen.

Weren't these types of threads supposed to not appear in the active topics? They are kind of useless and I can live without them.

What's the use of complaining here? We have no say in Nokia Devices. Why not go and complain in their forums? Not that that will help..

As I read this thread and others, I am reminded of a fairly new term applied to discussions such as this. (As applied to cameras)

Measurebator
Someone, almost always a guy, who gets so caught up in the technical specs of a camera to the point of endlessly repeating stats in numerous online forum postings and arguing which camera is better solely on specs; who conversely almost never takes any pictures.
"Did you hear Phil got a new camera?"

"Of course I did, how could I not? That measurebator has been spewing nothing but megapixels and JPG and RAW and other crap ever since he got it. The only way to shut him up is to ask to see a photo he's taken with it."

Well you get the idea......whether you are looking at audio, video, vehicles and so on. The specs can only tell part of the story. An expert or enthusiast, can get superb performance from devices that don't look so good on the spec sheet.

My suggestion if this spec comparison is really that important to you????

Be an expert.

here comes this debate again.

yeah, n900 is a very obsolete and useless phone... I'm sorry...

now stop with those rants, it's a development platform/device, not a phone fully comparable with those other smartphones. it has its weakness but it has strengths. that's why its competition, other companies will always try to better the others. like nintendo, microsoft and sony.

All the other smart phones have 512mb ram
We get just 256

Our screens dont have retina or amoled technologies

We dont get HDMI out or wireless dlna but just generic VGA

Many other smartphones get wireless n speeds of 200mbps
we get just 54mbps

Many other smartphones have 1280x760 video resolution @ 30fps
we have a lousy 800x400 resolution @ 20~fps

Other smartphones are sleek, sharp and light,
Our phones are bricks and heavy

Other smartphones get better battery's and better battery life.
We get virtually the worst battery life of all smart phones

Other smartphone's graphics chip push almost 30 gpu triangles/s
Our phones graphics chip pushs just 14 gpu triangles/s

Please discuss ! thanks

Sat Nav... Ovi Maps is fine. What's wrong with it? Take it up with Tom Tom, not the N900.

And digital compass doesn't exist on the N900, FYI. It just measures the change in displacement between two GPS reading to estimate your direction. TI OMAP 3430 doesn't have digital compass.

look nothing personal, the n95 as a phone beat the n900.

In fact/sadly i still use the n95 for the purposes above, where the n900 should be able to do those things properly.
