The only problem 1.2 introduced for me is occasional reversed zoom in MicroB - sometimes I want to zoom in on text and it will zoom out the page to the max. Everything else is great.

I had problems when I moved to Pr1.2 on an over the air update (OTA) and that was from the leaked pr1.2

Doing a full flash including the emmc cured all my woes and it has been fab ever since.

Give that a try first, its not difficult and there is a very good WIKI guide.

Its easy:

1.delete all the '.directory' (point directory) in /home/user/
2. reflash the PR 1.2 FW
3. do not use backup from previous fw!!!

My performance has been pretty sucky since the pr 1.2 update too. Everything is slow. I'm embarrassed to show people my n900 cause it takes forever to get anything done on it. Tried to show someone pictures today and it was painful. Don't ever have much running at the same time either. Maybe a browser and usually the media player. But everything always is slow to start, respond to touches, close, etc...

I have to admit mine has a nasty habit of getting slow on PR1.2 as well.

On fresh bootup its far faster than older versions, but once its been running a few days of opening/closing applications (or one really heavy day of use) it often bogs right down.

I think its due to moving so much of the OS into eMMC so that when swapping kicks in, it can't keep up with all the eMMC activity. This would seem to make sense as sometimes if I leave it running for a while with nothing open it will speed up again. But you can guarantee as soon as you want to show someone how cool the N900 is it becomes laggy, and I mean "wait a few minutes for it to recover" laggy not just minor stalling.

Sadly I think this is a hardware problem, fitting a full Linux into 256MB is impossible, and by that I mean root size and RAM. If RAM had been 512MB I don't think it would have been half as bad, but we got what was available at the time. As 512MB is standard on new smartphones now I think things will be a lot better, we are just stuck with an OS on hardware which wasn't quite up for the job. Early adopter blues.

Mind you, I have similar problems on desktop Linux if I leave it logged in 24/7 even with 1TB HDD and 8GB RAM particularly with compositing enabled.

FWIW, PR1.2's MicroB has been very subpar for me. Uses way too much CPU (this is the killer, the phone runs ridiculously hot with the browser open) and implodes when I have the audacity to open 4 or 5 seperate tabs.

Other than that, I've had few issues with it.

re: fitting linux into 256 MB being impossible, that's clearly nonsense. Ever heard of Damn Small Linux?

i did not reflash the emmc (coz i cant.....using a win7 64-bit), but the advise given to me is either:

1. install fw via NSU; or
2. re-flash fw via maemo flasher.

i already did both and my n900 is working fine.
