Isn't this a promise in itself? I am not talking about the video we all have seen that a gazillion times.

This to my understanding is a damn promise not kept well:
"ARM powered devices with Flash Player 10.1 will ship 1H 2010."

This can however be perceived any which way.. either new ARM devices will "ship" with FP 10.1 or existing devices getting 10.1.

and this sounded like we certainly would have FP 10.1 for N900:

"ARM and its silicon Partners have been working closely with Adobe to deliver Flash Player 10.1 on the latest ARM Cortex-A processors"

I frankly hate playing the blame game. It's pointless but someone has to take the blame. I have lost hope anyways.

maemo5/the n900 is surely more than capable of updated flash, if it never arrives officially (or even unofficially), that would be pretty disappointing- unless they were set to add it to a maemo 6 on the n900, if that ever happened.

I would not update my phone to a newer nokia just for updated feautures such as flash etc, as once flash moves on from v10 in the future, youll be in exactly the same state as you are now- hoping nokia sort out/give the much needed support and updates with flash again, and dont simply 'move on to their next phone'!

Imho, if there was serious, intense desire for Flash 10 capability among the community of Maemo developers, we could work on Gnash, bringing it up to scratch with Flash 10 capabilities and optimise the heck out of it.

That's a huge effort, not to be glib about it, but it's possible in principle for a sufficiently motivated team. Result would be more open as we all want, and wherever it gets to would be equally useful on future open devices.

The fact there's no activity in that area on th N900, implies it's just not that interesting.

No, that is not a promise. That is a statement to say they have ported Flash 10.1 to ARM based hardware. I bought an eeepc a couple of days back, 10.1 installed itself okay there, so this is an accurate statement.

They also say they are working with their partners to have a version available for Cortex-A processors, they don't mention who those partners are or which operating systems they are targeting. So a promise for the N900? No, not a promise at all.

Many Asia countries begin to sell N900 in May 2010 or later, if Nokia have plained to provde only a very few support for N900, then they should not sell N900 in these Asia countries.....

the inevitable has happened. facebook videos are now in flash 10. i could still view it last week but when i logged on to take a look at a video i posted, i was greeted with the flash player upgrade message.

sigh....nokia, nokia, wherefore art thou...maybe when the new ceo takes over at nokia, we can all send him emails asking for flash 10 (yeah, fat hope).

I surely hope this turns into a new PR 1.2 thread. Either someone "ports" (see frash) Flash 10.1 or Nokia officially brings it.

Not having flash 10.1 is unacceptable!
