I was recently given a Nokia N810 from my sister and all that came with it was the charger. I ordered a micro USB cable so that I could put music on my tablet. Do i have to have a mini SD card or can I use the internal memory? I have plugged the device to my pc numerous times and I am still unable to get my pc to even recognize that the 810 is even plugged in. Every other time I plug something into the USB port, an icon pops up on the taskbar with this tablet nothing ever happens. Even if I go to Start<My Computer< then all it shows are the drives like nothing is even hooked up. I'm thinking the cable might be bad, idk.... I just bought it..It says Nokia Micro USB data cable Model: CA-101D, compatible with N810?? wth???

Any microUSB cable will work just fine. I tend to keep my Nokia supplied microUSB packed up for travel and use something that came with my Motorola bluetooth earpiece when I sync with my desktop.

As far as internal memory, you can use it just fine - it's only 2gb or so though. As far as the drives not showing up properly, I would download the proper driver - you can get it via this page...

I'm going to assume you're using Windows due to the Start > My Computer quote above. That flasher will install a proper driver and you'll be able to see the internal memory. And if you get a Mini SD card, it'll also show up too.

Hope that helps.

You can also get a microSD card with a microSD-to-miniSD converter. MicroSD cards are more commonly available. You can get 16GB and maybe even 32GB for a very reasonable price if you look around. Make sure you get the right kind of converter: microSD-to-SD converters are common, but they won't help you.

Are you using Windows XP? I had all kinds of problems with Windows XP. Honestly, whenever I plug to attach my N810 to my desktop, I boot it to Ubuntu. Consider contacting Nokia's tech support about that.
