navit installed an update this morning (to svn-3506), and now it appears to be broken. On start-up it calculates the route correctly, and displays the initial instruction, although it does not speak it (I use espeak, which is working fine). However, it never updates the distance to that first turn, or give subsequent instructions, or update the route if I deviate from the indicated path. The highlighted route also does not update, only showing the whole path from start to finish, not just the remaining path. It is like it does not know I left my start point, although the map does update and show my current location, and the OSD correctly shows which street I am on. It also recognized when I got to my destination.

This was all working in the previous version. Is there any way to revert?

I had set LANG=en_CA in my .profile to make the default search Canada (my system has en_GB as the default locale). This worked before, but now it seems I have to remove it to get it working. I cannot check for sure until I go home, but at least it spoke to me!

OK, still broken. Any ideas?

For what it is worth, I reverted to svn-3495 and it works just fine.

Have you tried contacting Navit's devs? If you got an update, they must be around, but just maybe not on this forum much.

Yeah, I filed a bug report, I just thought there may be other users seeing this to confirm it was not just something specific to my system.

I 've got the same problem with navit (svn-3510) on my N810. Navit calculates a route, speaks to me (in german) first routing command and shows me the current street I am on. But it never updates routing instructions and hence it does not speak to me anymore. If I arrive my destination it still shows the first instruction and the first 'current' street. Did you got or find any solution for this?

There seem to be other (non-maemo) users reporting the same bug, and the developers are taking notice. For now use svn-3495 and all should work. Any of the svn-35xx have the same problem.

As an aside, I noticed that Navit was featured in the MeeGo IVI release. That may give it some more exposure.

This appears to be fixed now in svn-3520.
