I just got my N900, and one of the essential apps that we use at work is vpnc. After searching around, I found version 0.5.8-0m5 on garage.maemo.org, but no indication which platform it is for. I tried downloading to the app manager, but the install failed with the following:

Code:
Unable to install 'vpnc'
Application packages missing: libgcrypt11
                           libgpg-error0 (>= 1.0)
Has anyone gotten vpnc to run on the N900? I am in a position, because my wife has taken over the N810, and I'd really rather not drag my laptop around with me wherever I go.

Thanks,

Okay, but it doesn't show up in my package list. I have
  • Nokia System Software Updates
  • Ovi
  • maemo.org
  • Maemo Extras

Do I need to add extras-devel to get it?

And is the impression correct that this will also get the missing dependencies?

Thanks,

It's not a good idea to keep extras-devel set permanently. I use the following procedure:
  • Enable extras-devel catalogue
  • Ignore the updates that are shown after phone updates package information from repository
  • Install the needed software from extras-devel
  • Disable extras-devel

Thanks. What about extras-testing? Is that cool to have enabled permanently?
