I know with verizon phones there is a way to check and download new firmware, is there anything like this for Cingular?

Now, I try to connect, and it says unable to connect to phone. I have deleted and recreated the pairing, even renamed both devices and started all over. It pairs sucesfully, but then I cannot access the phone via file manager.
Anyone have any ideas?
