Hi
I just reflashed my N800 to the newest OS after it was stuck in a dead-battery-reboot-loop and now my internal memory card slot doesn't recognize the card that's in there (and was working before the power ran down) - I took the card out of the interal slot and put it in the external one and it works fine there. I took another card and tried it in the internal slot and no card showed up in the file manager. So it is the slot, not any card that is at fault.

Has anyone else seen this? Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
---Raymond

Look on the battery cover, there is a small square below the silver slide release, in the small square should be be a magnet. This magnet is used to close a magnetic activated switch on the main board which is used to let the operating system know when it is ok to write/read to the card in the internal memeory slot.

So my first guess is either the magnet is not there or the magnetic switch is not working correctly. The issue may be software related but this is something that is simple to check first. Good Luck and post if this is or isn't the cause of the problem and I'll try to think if there is anything that can be the cause.

I've had my magnet fall out. Look around under the battery compartment. Superglue holds it pretty well.

Hi all
Thanks for the replies, I looked at the cover and the small square magnet is there and a quick pass over with some iron shows that the magnet is in fact quite magnetic!

I looked at the spot on on the board that lines up with the magnet and it seems like the magnet fits into the small rectangular gap between the slide switch for the internal card and the battery. In there is a small yellow component on the board that might be a reed switch [?] that looks to be intact and connected.

OK - I have no idea what I just did, but the card is now being recognized (!)

I don't believe in magic and abhor a mystery so perhaps it [the magnet] had been slightly dislodged and in my pushing at the it I slightly moved it back into a position where it's influence is now recognized.

Thanks again all!

Glad to hear it is working, hopefully you don't have any more issues. Next time it starts acting up you may want to check the "Flux Capacitor" and make sure it's putting out 1.21 gigawatts of electricity.
