I installed Canola for the first time at the weekend and everything went fine. I had two albums already on my MMC and Canola auto scanned and correctly read all the ID3 tag information - I was able to browse by artist/album/genre and all information was correctly displayed. When I clicked on an individual track, the correct artist name, track title and album art were also displayed. I was overjoyed - fantastic software & brilliant interface.

I deleted those albums and replaced them with four others, all of which have full and correct ID3 tag information. I ran the auto-rescan applet to refresh the Canola database and then ran Canola.

For some reason Canola is no longer reading the tag information for artist/album/genre correctly - it just displays [Unknown]. All the individual tracks are listed under the "All" option, although when I select an individual track, only the track title is displayed, not the artist. I'm confused!

I went into the Canola set up menu and the albums are showing in the media library window (in red). So, I've just unistalled & then reinstalled Canola and it still hasn't solved the problem.

I use the latest version of MP3tag to "clean" the tag information and embed album art.

Has anyone else had this problem with Canola and found a workaround? Am I missing something obvious??

TIA

I have this same problem, I also used mp3tag to embed all my album art work so I thought this may be the problem but after re tagging the files in tag and rename I still have no ID3 information being read in canola.

I've given up on Canola for the time being. I'll wait till I've re-flashed my 770 before installing it again. I use Kagu all the time now - the ID3 recognition is spot on - although it reads it's album art information from a .jpeg image in the album folder rather than embedded images.

I really want to use canola for everything as I love the interface and all the other functions

Can anyone help shed some light on this problem?

edit: just checked out kagu it's very nice and will use it for now but I'd still like to use the same application for my audio as I do for my video and streaming audio so I hope someone can help.

I'm very pleased to say I fixed this problem today

I re tagged all my mp3s in Mp3Tag using the ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1 option in the settings rather than the default and they now display perfectly.
