Hi Guys n Gals,

New here and I have a question, I spent a lot of time doing a search for this topic but have not been able ot find anything.

I have downloaded a whole heap of apps since I bought my phone, but I can only find/access a few of them...Put simply I have no idea where to find them so I can use them. Some have appeared and I can use but the others I have downloaded and installed can only be found in my Application Manager under "uninstall"

Hopefully you understand what I mean?

If you could help me out or put a link up to a discussion/thread that might have dealt with this issue in the past it would be really appreciated.

Probably not a good time to bring up all my MeeGo questions either right (lol)

Cheers

Open terminal:
Code:
dpkg -L <package name>
This will list all files installed by a package.
Usually the executable will be in /usr/bin or /opt/<package name>/

For example, the executable for fmms is /opt/fmms/fmms_gui.py

Some programs are run through the xterminal. They do not use an graphical interface. Normaly you could see that on their icon.. they have a $ in them.

Name the programs you've installed that you want to run.

Some run all the time. Some run at specific intervals automatically, etc. For these reasons, you may not see an icon. Also, as AlMehdi stated, some are run only in xterminal.

About MeeGo...........I don't recommend you to install actual version of MeeGo, it's an immature OS with no functionality.

I've tryied it and if you want turn off your phone you must remove the battery..........

Like I said, that command will tell you where the executable (read: the command to start the program) is installed.

For daemon's, you probably don't need to "run" them. As suggested, it may be better to just list the applications you can't "start":
