Being that google has enabled video for ubuntu and debian flavors of linux, has anyone tried this on the n900? I know it has voice, but not video. I would try it, but I'm at work and on the big magenta.

You might want to be more precise on what your talking about. For example, http://video.google.com/ is Google Video. Unless you mean Google talk with Video chat.

Rather than wait for a reply for clarification, I'll take a guess and assume you meant GTalk with Video chat. Yes the N900 can do it, the user on the Windows/Linux/Mac side has to install the Google Talk application though.

Google released this addon http://www.google.com/chat/video for Google Talk
http://googletalk.blogspot.com/2010/...-chat-too.html
but only as a x86 .deb
They should have released the source code.

Alien was unable to create a working RPM (it installed with --nodeps but GTalk doesn't notice). Not to mention distros such as Gentoo and IDK other architectures...

I also tried using Pidgin which is supposed to have support but it's just greyed out on my end

Strange... For me it works in both ways, although I had problems to initiate a video call to somebody logged into google talk via nimbuzz.

Does Google Talk via nimbuzz support Google Talk video? Supporting Gtalk itself isn't enough since Pidgin supports GTalk and my fiancee needs to be using the app (or the gmail website I think..) for me to video call her. Yes I got her to use Pidgin (she quite likes it).

Emitting video calls via google talk from nimbuzz (to the n900) works. I just cannot call a contact who is using google talk via nimbuzz from the n900.
