I successfully downloaded Kagu directly from the garage.
...Now that I think of it, red pill mode is necessary to get python5 running-

My experience agrees that the repositories are borked. I sucessfully installed python-elf-core-demo on my n800 today with the list updated on Sept 1. I tested it, then uninstalled it and refreshed the application list. As I attemped to install it again, I was greeted with "unable to install, missing: libecore-evas, libecore0, libecore0-evas, ..."

It seems the package lists were modified early today.

I had the problem everyone else is reporting when I installed python on my 770 yesterday. (2007HE)

That got it!

Thanks to the community here, I have now successfully installed Python and Kagu. Thank you again to all those that offered help and advice. I hope I can return the favour one day.

Martin.

"I've never installed python 2.4"

Ok, good information. My theory goes down the tubes...

Tahitibob, you are the mage! Excellent post, just like your app, which I'm off to (re) install next! Many thanks for your contributions!

Tahitibob: Let me join the chorus of appreciation. I've finally gotten Python 2.5 and Kagu reinstalled after virtually a day of reflashing and reinstalling applications, not once, but a number of times, trying to solve this problem. Shame on Nokia!

Thanks Tahitibob. Couls install Python 2.5 as well as Kagu and UKMP. Should we revert to Blue pill mode after installing? Does the red pill mode have any negative impact?

Not that fast, you do not have to install Python 2.4, it sometimes come with other apps that go with python2.4. I am not saying one way or the other,
"I've never installed python 2.4" is not good enough, - " I've never installed python2.4 dependent app" is a stronger statement.

Thanks much Tahiti, finally able to install all my favorite apps now.

Vdas22, after I installed Python I then switched back to blue pill mode to install all my apps., with no problems.

I'm still boggled though on how Nokia missed this issue.

David - Thanks for your simplistic way of explaining how to do this. I am a newbie & love my N800 particularly UKMP, so I was gutted when I did the upgrade and then couldn't get Python to re-install. But using your method above I have managed to get it working again. Thanks again.
