Battery drain mostly from 3G cellular data, the best way to relieve this would be a bigger battery in N9.. they obviously dont care about one of the top N900 complaints..
since batteries can be all differnet shapes and sizes, they are probably one of the last things designed to fit in whatever space.

I wish they would put the BP-4L in the N9. Nice solid 1500mAh battery used in 6760, E52, E55, E61i, E63, E71, E72, E90, N810, N97 ... In a super device, I'd be hoping for a new 1800-2000mAh battery in maybe slightly larger dimensions than BP-4L...

If the guesstimates are correct, I imagine an AMOLED screen and 1GHz 45nm CPU may yield better battery performance than we get with the N900, so perhaps a 1320mAh battery in the N9 will give at least the same performance if not better than the 1320mAh BP-4L in the N900. Perhaps the N9 battery will be close to the equivalent of a 1500mAh N900 battery.

Add to that, if the N9 is pitched at the mass market and successful then perhaps an outfit like Powermat will see fit to support it with a Powerpak making top-up charging throughout the day a likely occurrence (although I thought they were supposed to be launching Powerpaks in June/July after announcing them at CES in January and no word since, I wonder if they're experiencing problems with their technology...)

EDIT: According to this twitter on 9 Aug the Powerpaks have been pushed back, most likely to next year. Charlatans... they weren't supporting the N900 anyway.

I'll be happy as long as it lasts longer than most Android devices.

I dunno, I can't ever see having TOO MUCH battery. Even if they are more efficient, putting in a 1500mAh battery gives us more standby/talk/data usage time.

A higher capacity battery also increases weight and adds bulk, and to be honest the N900 is already too heavy - Nokia need hardware that is slim, light and "sexy" to be taken seriously at the high end.

Another brick is not going to be a success, no matter how powerful it is or how wonderful the software it runs.

I would like to see how Meego matures as a platform first before jumping ship. Since its paired up with hardware that isn't beating the competition, I would wait six months to a year to see how Meego shapes up as a platform and whether Nokia puts more effort into supporting their devices over the long term. That Cortex-A8 is saddening, I was hoping that by the end of the year we could get to see Intel introduce Moorestown with Meego and shake up the mobile scene. Truly game-changing hardware and software is the only thing that would make me interested in Nokia after the n900.

There was always no chance of Nokia's first MeeGo device running on Moorestown chip b/c the device was created even before MeeGo existed, its not even really MeeGo its Maemo 6 made MeeGo compatible, device after that should be real MeeGo but i Don't expect that to be moorestown device either b/c its too early as hardware would of already been decided.
i expect Moorestown to come at some stage just hope intel have improved power efficency by bucket loads otherwise i hope you'll be happy with 4 hours of battery life lol

Man, Nokia is a bunch of lazy ******. BP-4L is li-po vs li-ion for the BP-5J. They're the same thickness, and the 4L is only a tiny bit wider and taller. It could easily fit in the n900 or any other phone if they had wanted it to. The e71 is the smallest Nokia smartphone (thinnest) and it has the biggest size battery. No big deal. It doesn't need it, but nobody complains about the extra life. With meego or maemo we have some 3d accelerated multitasking OS, and they decide "lets just put a little battery, it's easier/cheaper/whatever". I don't know. Look at the picture, I have both on my desk. It's sad how close it is to fitting.
