I just bought mone assuming that there will be a lot more offerings on this device from Nokia.

no the N900 has a bright future
Meego is still to come
and i asked some people in Nokia they said that they will port meego to the N900 instead of Maemo 5
but thats still abit far from happening
so maybe Nokia is just getting rid of their maemo 5 stock to start with a fresh meego one

Take into consideration that old devices aren't sold anymore and n900 is almost 1 year old.

Nokia is still selling some of its E series and 5800 models both Symbion, they now have N8 on the website and I think you may be right that n900 will come back with MeeGo but I think it is at the moment to make way for N8.

sometimes I think they may be repenting their decision to not provide some basic applications such as FM radi receiver, video calls, MMS that are available on a cheapest phones these days as default.

This is developer's delight. But also network admin's delight. Mobile web browser's delight, that was why I got the N810 some time ago. But not really something I'd recommend for my sister.
