(1) So I'm just сurious whether using GPS with phone in offline mode is completely radio-silent?
As far as it's a military technology, I assume it is.
But are there any documents to prove this?

(2) I heard that any working CPU emisses some radio-waves too? What is approximate radius of its detection?

(3) And does N900 remain radio-silent during reboot in offline mode?

To get a useful answer, you need to ask a meaningful and unambiguous question.

I am just another maemo user. I don't set any guidelines. I was just pointing out that no one can answer your question if they do not know what you are asking.

Please describe what you mean by "lock GPS position" or what starts happening when the GPS position is locked.

When we use Places app for Facebook thru N900's firefox browser,
Iam gettng error saying "We couldnt determine the coordinates of this location.Check if your latitude and longitude are in range and verify the format of the location.\n"

If you are in US,,you can check frm your N900 firefox browser by getting on to touch.facebook.com

My perception is our N900 gps even on fine accuracy,it still deviates the lat long value slightly every sec.is there any way that we can lock the lat long value of gps for the instance.

With GPRS/3G/WLAN/BT off, it is almost silent. Yes - as all other electronics, there is a bit of EMI from the processor, any DC/DC, oscillators, ... But not much different from a more powerful graphical calculator or small game console.

But why are you asking? And by the way - it doesn't hurt if you use full words in your sentences.

Note that a lot of sites just uses your IP number to get a rough guestimate of location. This does not work well with mobile units using ppp, since the IP number your unit gets doesn't have a strong relation to the physical location of the phone.

When I do access the net from home, my IP number can be traced to the city I'm in because the IP number belongs to an ISP in that city.

You are correct,,I just tried using this app by staying on Wifi rather than 3G data connection,it is working with a defined lat long.

So according to you there is no possible way to get a fixed location being on 3G data connection.

That is a poor error message. It is worded to imply that the format of your location is not what the server is looking for. That seems unlikely but might be the case. If anyone using an n900 can use facebook location features, then there is some other problem, such as your n900 GPS has not locked on to enough satellites to get a fix of your location.

I do not and will not use facebook, so I can not help with that.

OK. That is one of the possibilities that I thought you were asking, but did not know why you would want to do that. If the n900 used gpsd, you could use gpsfake to have it say that you are anywhere that you want. There may be something equivalent to gpsfake for the n900, but I do not know.

Every GPS will have poor accuracy when it does not have a good quality fix. This is usually caused because buildings, trees, or other things reduce or block the satellite signals. Some GPS are affected by this more or less than others.
