I recently acquired a Nokia n900. I was very satisfied with the phone until installing some custom kernel off the app manager. Now the tablet constantly reboots. Heres what I've tried.
-Flasher 3.5 on windows vista 64bit, meaning it wont properly mount the usb device even after driver signing is off. Tried all methods listed to make it work except virtual environment ubuntu.
- Also tried using flasher 3.5 on MAC os X snow leopard, But no success.
-different usb ports to see if that would, nothing. still getting "Suitable USB device not found, waiting."
-Tried restart and reinstall of flasher 3.5, still same problem.
-Tried Nokia update suite and still wont do the job.
And Now, The phone refuses to go into usb mode and just has a dim screen with no usb icon in upper right hand corner.
If connected to charger, no led and the tablet constantly restarts.

Im running latest firmware. and it was fresh with no mods.
Any suggestions and possibly a solution. Im hoping this phone is still good to go.

Remove the battery and connect phone to computer via usb keeping "u" key pressed. Now insert the battery and see if it enters the flashing mode.

my advice would be to download a live ubuntu cd , and reboot into it flash your n900 and be done , you won't have to run it in virtual machine .
if u don't want to do that.. have u tried XP mode in windows 7 ?

Solution Found For 64-bit windows! reflashed phone and its working perfectly now.
Solution that work for me was to use Libusb-win32 (version 0.1.12.1 for Win)
Connect Nokia Usb mode, Install driver thorugh the program included in package.
Program can be found here.
