Hi All,

I have ported (more like recompiled) tcl/expect to the n800, and created a deb file. Now what?

Without opening a new project in garage.maemo.org, how does one get the deb published to a repository?

TIA,

Craig...

PS. for now I have it at:
http://www.makikiweb.com/n800/downlo...43.0.armel.deb

You just need a Garage account, not a Garage project.

Alternatively, one of the aims of mud-builder is to make these kind of ports - and the associated uploads - easier.

Thanks, I guess I am still left wondering, how to I submit the deb to garage without a project? I have a garage account, but I don't see how to submit the deb for the repository?

Perhaps I am missing something but mud-builder seems to be a useful app that helps create the deb. I have already created the deb using pypackager, and it works nicely.

Sorry to be dense, but I just don't see the "click here to submit built deb" button.

TIA,

Craig...

The MUD project team will - at some point - also (hopefully) upload all the debs as well.

Here is a document describing the procedure:

http://maemo.org/community/applicati...epository.html

It's not the easiest procedure in the world - you'll need to use PGP/GPG and dput. It's definitely a lot easier if you use Debian or a variant thereof.

Thanks gnuite!

It is _not_ the easiest procedure. I have a question about step 7:
7 . Make sure you have the necessary modifications in
Code:
/etc/dput.cf:
...
~/.ssh/config:
Host garage
HostName garage.maemo.org
User <your_garage_login_name>
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/<your_private_ssh_key>
Are they really expecting my ssh private key! I use ssh alot, and I have _never_ given our my private key. Perhaps this is a typo, and they really want my ssh public key.

Thanks I'll give this a try (with my public key).

Craig...

You won't give it to anyone, it is just for your local configuration of dput. Your ssh command uses it everytime, this explicit configuration is just for case when you want to use different key than usual (i.e. you are paranoid and want to use different key for maemo servers then your other servers).

Thanks to all for the help and ideas.

After seeing that openssh was a project, and was in fact just a port from the other linux versions, I decided to open a project for 'expect'. I have done that, and you can now find expect at:
https://garage.maemo.org/projects/expect/

Thanks again to all,

Craig...

[Edit 17 Oct] Actually it is even easier to install, since project files apparently are put into the repository. So as root type: apt-get install expect
Magically you will have expect installed (which includes tclsh as well).
