How many updates did they do for the N800?

They used to release new versions a lot more often in the old days.

i reckon that nokia should have frequent updates fixing fewer number of bugs at one time, instead of having a big-ish update fixing higher number of bugs at one time.

And I wish that we - as a modding and developing community - could make and distribute bugfixes by ourselves...
Could've been nice, not needing to wait for nokia to patch things up once in 6 months, but I guess this belongs to a more ideal world than the world we're living in

I really hope that flash 10.1 gets into this update since they demoed it about a year ago.

Back then they weren't developing Meego as main dish.

They always had "the next version" cooking somewhere. The only difference may be that the closer we get to "5 of 5", the more consumer actually have the devices in their hands... which makes updating the whole OS a more critical task.

It is currently being done. See MohammadAG's efforts and the Modest fixes we have.

Well.. it seems like we are waiting for the PR1.3 update, and I reckon it will come (my opinion).. But then, hey.. Why get frustrated? Lets just wait till it comes (if it does), and if not then we can think of another solution at that time. There has been no official word on PR1.3 and there hasn't been any word about PR1.3 not coming.

There are more important things going on this world than this PR1.3 update
