Hello all,

Just recently my Nokia N900 has developed an unusual problem where the touchscreen does not respond to any input (finger touch or stylus taps). I have tried flashing to OS back to factory (rootfs only) but the screen still doesn't respond. The OS loads fine just that it doesn't respond to touch inputs.

Is this most likely a hardware issue with the screen?

Thanks for all assistance.

Yes. Sounds like a hardware issue to me. I had a similar problem with my touchscreen. The device had to be replaced witha new one. Sorry mate.

Most likely, some flex connector went loose. Then you would better send N900 for repair, especially if you have warranty. Have you dropped the device recently?

Protective film could cause some problems, but not so abruptly.

If it was hardware issue with the screen, then at first only part of screen would be affected.
If the connector became detached (or short circuited or something else), then some other functions might be not working. Does the main camera work? The keyboard? The keyboard's backlight? The notification LED? The front camera? The proximity sensor? The microphone?

From what I can tell, everything else works fine except the touchscreen. I do have a protective film over the screen. I had no idea that this can cause problems. Yes, recently the device fell off my table and on to the carpet floor.

I am in Australia and bought this from the US from Amazon. Looks like I will need to work out a way to send this back and get it fix under warranty. I have a sneaky suspicion that this will be a headache in itself
